Downtown Virginia Beach 1971

The Pembroke Area of Virginia Beach that would eventually bcome a thriving "downtown" area. This photo, taken in 1971 looks north along Independence Blvd from over the site of what is now Circuit City, and shows Columbus Street and Virginia Beach Blvd. At the top of the photo is visible the Chesapeake Bay and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
