The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel viewed from Chic's (not Chick's) Beach area of Virginia Beach. This late 1980's photo was a result of being stuck in the sand. While being slightly aggravated by my situation, I looked out the window, saw this scene, grabbed my 35 M Minolta Maxxum and took three or four shots.
Would this photo be better if I could have captured more water to the right? Possibly, but there are homes that block the view. I've thought about painting this photograph to include perhaps, a few sailboats and more beach.
This bridge extends approx 17 miles from Virginia Beach in southeastern Virginia, crosses the Chesapeake Bay and connects what is referred to as the Delmarva Peninsula along the eastern seaboard. Delmarva is an acronym for Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. This narrow stretch of land along the coastline is one of the last vastly undeveloped areas of the east coast.
