Norfolk Virginia Photo By Tim Rudziensky
Photographer's Note: I've photographed this scene many times since the 1980's and it has changed dramatically. What was once a warehouse district is now the center of business is southeast Virginia.
Major development began in the 1980's with the construction of the Waterside Festival Marketplace and Town Point Park on the waterfront. Soon after businesses began relocating to downtown Norfolk. The coming years would see a resurgence of growth in all types of business and activity. Recently there has been an increase in residential development in the Freemason area, but during the 1990’s major hotels, restaurants, office buildings, Harbor Park, MacArthur Center, Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin were all added to complete a thriving downtown district.
