Aerial view of Thimble Shoals Light, located 3 ½ miles east of Old Point Comfort at Willoughby Spit and The Thimble entrance to Hampton Roads. Photographed as it was receiving a new coat of paint, the workers are actually painting the opposite side when the photo was taken! This light is the last to still have its' canopy over the first-level. In 1964 this light was automated with solar cells.
